About Doublecross If you are having a hard time envisioning how the course layout works, check out the demonstration animation on the video page. As for the event itself, here is a quick run down. Saturday is all qualifying. Open class drivers will be grouped in qualifying classes ( Stock 1, Stock 2, Street Touring, Street Prepared and Prep-Mod) and will take 3 runs from each side (6 total). The Ladies will go through the same procedure with two qualifying classes (L1, L2). The qualifying times will be used to create dial ins and rankings. Similar to ProSolo, DoubleX will rank the entire event on margin. The driver who wins their qualifying class by the most will be the top qualifier; the driver who is the farthest behind their class winner will be the last qualifier. The dial ins will be used to set the correction on the tree for elimination rounds on Sunday. On Sunday everyone will be placed in one of six 32-seed double elimination brackets. These brackets will be run until there are 5 drivers left. This will leave the 30 drives that will compete in the single elimination Hawk Super Challenge. The top two ranked drivers who were eliminated during the double elimination brackets will fill the final two spots in that 32 seed bracket. There will also be a double elimination ladies bracket and a bonus challenge. Take all that, throw in a $4700 guaranteed cash pay outs, plus over
$40,000 worth of available contingencies, two mist tents, a porta-cool,
bleachers, on site vending, event t-shirts, and a Saturday night beer
and brat cook out with a rock-a-billy band and you have one hell of
an autocross. |
