2. DOUBLEX CHALLENGE EVENT
The DoubleX Challenge, operating as a SCCA ProSolo National event, is conducted under the SCCA National Solo Rules and the SCCA ProSolo Rules except as amended by these Supplementary Regulations, DoubleX Event Supplemental Regulations, and any supplementary rules. If there appears to be in conflict between the DoubleX Supplemental regulations and the ProSolo rules, the ProSolo rules will take precedent. If the DoubleX supplemental regulations do not seem to cover something specific to the DoubleX format and the matter is not also specifically covered in the ProSolo rules, the intent the ProSolo rules will be used to resolve the issue.
2.1 OVERVIEW
Formerly known as MirrorKhanna, the Doublecross (DoubleX) Challenge is a head to head autocross tournament on a single course. Drivers will face a Christmas tree start before entering the same course at opposite points. Drivers will qualify in SCCA classes. These classes will then be “combined” into indexed categories. Combined qualifying results will determine the over all rankings of the drivers, establish seeds as well as the dial-ins for each class on each course. The total of a driver’s best right side and left side time will determine class rank while the top time from each side, in each combined class will be used to set the dial-ins for the elimination rounds. For the Elimination Rounds drivers will be seeded in double elimination 32 car brackets. 6 drivers will come out of each of these brackets and, along with the two highest seeded drivers that have been eliminated, will make up the final 32 drivers in the Hawk Super Challenge. The Hawk Super Challenge will be a single elimination tournament to determine the over all DoubleX champion. There is also a Ladies Challenge that uses a double elimination bracket to determine the champion.
2.2 OPERATIONAL AUTHORITY AND PROGRAM OFFICIALS
Final overall authority for the DoubleX Challenge shall reside with the event organizing committee, made up of the event chair, operating stewards and the SCCA National liaison. The event Chief Steward/ Event Chair will generally serve as the as the primary DoubleX official. The chief steward has named the following DoubleX officials team (subject to change).
Chief Steward- Heyward Wagner
Event Manager- Megan Peters
Assistant Event Chair- Nathan Peters
Operating Stewards- Brian Cembor, Meredith Najewicz, Mitch Wagner
Chief of Compliance- Dave Hardy
Registrar- SCCA National Office
Timing Liaison- Stephen Turner
Scoring Chief- Brian Bell
Grid Chief- Joyce Ann Nordell
Chief of Tech- Toby Hunt / Luke Miller
Chief of Course- Tim Smith / Amy Smith
Equipment Managers- Tom Shuman / Kevin Boswell
Safety Steward- David Stegar
Chief of Waivers- Andrew Maffessanti
Communications- Dave Hardy
Chief of Workers- Bill Bounds / Eric Soto
SCCA National Liaison- Howard Duncan
2.3 RULES INTERPRETATION
In the event of doubt or ambiguity as to the wording and/or intent of the operating rules for the DoubleX Challenge, the decisions of DoubleX officials shall prevail and be binding. SCCA and DoubleX officials (Chief Steward and National Office Solo Department) reserve the right to revise these rules, to issue supplements to them at any time, and to promulgate special rules in an emergency.
2.4 DRIVER ELIGIBILITY
Entry into a ProSolo National event is limited to SCCA members meeting the requirements of Section 4.1 and Appendix H of the SCCA National Solo Rules.
2.5 DRIVER CONDUCT
Drivers must present and conduct themselves in a professional manner. All competitors and event officials must be fully clothed. Drivers judged not professional in conduct and appearance may not be allowed to compete. Any entrant, who drives in an unsafe manner at or near the event location or displays unsportsmanlike conduct, is subject to the range of penalties described in these rules in Section 20.10.P.10. Competitors making inappropriate (malicious, libelous, blatantly untrue) comments regarding the SCCA, SCCA staff, SCCA field staff, SCCA programs, or other competitors on any forums will be subject to possible disciplinary action. These are not protest-able items. Judgment rests solely with ProSolo Officials and their decision is final.
2.6 ALCOHOL AND SUBSTANCE USE
Competitors may not consume alcohol or any impairing drug or medication until their runs and work assignments are over. Local ordinances will be observed. Controlled substances are forbidden.
3. VEHICLE CLASSES AND PREPARATION
3.1 QUALIFYING CLASSES
All of the current SCCA National Solo open classes are eligible for Open DoubleX competition. Drivers in these classes will compete against each other during qualifying competition. ProSolo points and contingency will be base on these class results. For Sunday’s elimination rounds, classes will be combined into the following tentative groups (minimum 20 competitors) for the purpose of setting dial-ins. Each group will compete based on the dial-in times of the top times within the group.
Stock 1
SS, AS, BS, FS
CS, DS, ES, GS, HS
STS, STS2, STX, STU
ASP, BSP, CSP, DSP, ESP, FSP
SM, SM2, XP, BP, CP, DP, EP, FP, GP, AM, BM. CM. DM. EM, FM, F125
3.2 LADIES CLASSES
Female drivers wishing to compete Ladies DoubleX Competition may do so within the following indexed Qualifying Classes:
Ladies 1
AS, BS, CS, DS, ES, FS, GS, HS, STS, STS2
Ladies 2
SS, STX, STU, Street Prepared (all), Street Modified (all), Prepared (all), Modified (all), F125, FSAE
3.3 INDICES
DoubleX will use the 2008 ProSolo Indices for Ladies classes for the purpose of class competition and for Qualifying Classes for the purpose of setting dial-ins.
3.4 PREPARATION
3.4.1 Vehicles must be prepared to the current SCCA National Solo Rules for their respective class or the published rules for any supplemental class. All vehicles must be neat and clean, inside and out, or they may not be allowed to compete.
3.4.2 Exception: Stock category cars are allowed additional and/or alternate radiator cooling fans. This allowance must not serve any other purpose.
3.5 MINIMUM CLASS SIZE
DoubleX will follow the established minimum SCCA class size guidelines for ProSolo competition.
3.6 VEHICLE ENTRY AND CHANGES
3.6.1 A vehicle may be entered in no more than a total of two (2) classes, including Ladies classes.
3.6.2 If the vehicle is entered in two (2) classes it must be noted on the entry form so officials may devise the run order accordingly.
3.6.3 Drivers are allowed to change to another car in their class during an event; however, they may not return to the original car after switching- with the exception of section 6.2.3.
4. VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION AND PROGRAM SYMBOLS
Car numbers and SCCA class designation must meet Section 3.7 of the SCCA National Solo Rules. Car numbers and class designations must be neat and legible and be approved by DoubleX timing and scoring officials. Drivers should display only their SCCA Classification, (ex. STS, SS, FP) not their qualifying class designation. Incorrect and/or illegible car numbers or class designations on the car will result in a DNF (Did Not Finish) for that run. The Tire Rack banner, the SCCA wire wheel decal, two (2) SCCA Solo decals, two (2) The Tire Rack SCCA National Solo decals, event sponsor decals (if applicable), and the applicable class sponsor decals) must be prominently displayed on each car as specified by ProSolo Officials and these rules. All required decals are available at each ProSolo National Series event. Note: The Tire Rack banner (30 x 3.5) is to be placed at the top of a typical full-size windshield and is to be the only sponsor visible on the windshield. Cars and karts without typical full-size windshields will need approval of ProSolo officials for an alternative location.
5. EVENT OPERATION
5.1 ENTRY AND REGISTRATION
5.1.1 Event entry is limited to 175.
5.1.2 All entrants must register through SCCA.org.
5.2 TECH
5.2.1 All vehicles must have one tech sticker per driver. Tech Stickers may be received after a successful inspection by a tech worker or by providing either a ProSolo annual tech sticker or an Atlanta Region annual tech sticker.
5.2.2 All vehicles are subject to inspection at any time.
5.3 SOUND LIMITS
There are no sound limits for DoubleX.
5.4 RUN / WORK ORDER (subject to change)
Run/ Work order will be announce the week of the event date.
5.4.1 Drivers will receive their Saturday work shift assignment during check in. Sunday assignments will be made Saturday night and posted with grid assignment on Sunday morning.
5.4.2 Final group assignments will be listed on the Event Supplementary Regulations and/or as a posted Driver's Notice.
5.5 ENTRANTS AS WORKERS
5.5.1 Entrants are required to work one (1) Shift per day. Volunteers will be requested for the Super Challenge and Bonus Challenge shift on Sunday afternoon. Verification of working will be the responsibility of the Chief of Workers. Failure to report to the Chief of Workers for your work assignment will result in a penalty which could include, but is not limited to, loss of timed runs, event disqualification (DSQ), fines, and/or membership suspension. If circumstances will prevent the entrant from working at an assigned time, report to the Chief of Workers for a possible alternate assignment.
5.5.2 Any changes to the driver’s work assignment must be made with the Chief of Workers.
5.6 GRID
5.6.1 While the cars are in the Grid (not the Stage Lanes), any adjustments may be made. This includes tire pressures, tire cleaning, cooling, suspension settings, etc. If vehicles are being refueled in the Grid Area, the engine must be OFF and another person must be standing by with a fire extinguisher. Any spillage of fuel may result in a DNF for some or all of any remaining runs in that Heat at the sole discretion of the Chief Steward.
5.6.2 Once a driver leaves the grid area no changes may be made to the car.
5.6.3 Burn-outs are only allowed in designated areas, marked with red cones.
5.6.4 A competitor is allowed one 5-minute time-out per Heat (Class competition), It is the competitor’s responsibility to notify the Grid official of the need to take a time-out delay. The time-out can be called from the time the competitor is directed from Grid to the Stage lanes and up to the time when they are required to enter the Stage Lane to stay properly paired. If a competitor must pull out of line in the stage lanes for mechanical problems after the initial run per Heat, they will forfeit any runs for which they cannot make it to the Start Area at the appropriate time (e.g. to run against the car with which they were girded). Vehicles are not permitted to depart the grid area for service. In the event of improving weather conditions, Time-outs will not be granted.
5.6.5 Passive or active tire warmers are not allowed in Pre-Grid, Grid, or Stage Lanes.
5.6.6 While it is the intent to run all entrants of each class together without interruption, drivers should expect occasional interruptions for reruns from other classes, second drivers, VIP/media runs, etc. These runs will be integrated into the run order as unobtrusively as possible, but such runs are necessary for administrative efficiency and promotional opportunities.
QUALIFYING GRID PROCEDUES
5.6.7 Grid assignments will be posted as soon as possible Saturday morning. Drivers are required to be in their grid spots within 5 minutes of the final call to grid. Calls to grid will be made by the announcer and are binding. Exception is granted for cars that are impounded or running at the time of the final call to grid.
5.6.8 With the exception of two driver cars, grid positions will be determined by SCCA Class, then Numerical order in each qualifying class. For example, Stock 1 would be all SS cars, in numerical order, followed by all AS cars, in numerical order, etc. The first drivers of two driver teams will report to the two-driver grid and WILL NOT grid with the rest of the class.
5.6.9 The following are rules for a two-driver team sharing the same car in the same class.
a. Car numbers for the second (2nd) driver must be 100 plus the first (1st) driver's number (i.e. 99 & 199).
b. Two driver cars will be held a minimum of five (5) minutes before being directed back to the stage lanes.
c. The first (1st) driver designation for the team is determined by lowest car number.
d. All two-driver teams must have two (2) tech inspection stickers on the car. This assists the grid staff in identifying two-driver teams and determining the proper position for the car.
e. Drivers are responsible for having the proper numbers and class designation on their car, not Timing & Scoring. This is especially true for two-driver car teams. Failure to have the proper designations can result in a DNF for all affected runs.
5.6.10 Run sequence will follow the ProSolo Procedure, with all single drivers and first drivers taking all of their runs, followed by the second drivers taking all of their runs.
5.6.11 Once a driver is released from the grid, all runs will be taken in sequence.
5.6.12 Each Heat has a unique grid order based on car number.
5.6.13 Each of the grid lanes will consist of two lines- one line for odd numbered grid position cars and a second line for even numbered grid position cars.
5.6.14 Once a Group begins runs, portions of that group will be directed to the staging lanes, blended with two-driver cars by the Grid Official.
5.6.15 If there are an odd number of cars in a class, the last place car may either run solo, or may be matched, by the grid official, against a rerun car, a media car, a demonstration run, or a car from another class.
ELIMINATION AND CHALLENGE ROUNDS GRID PROCEDURES
5.6.16 All drivers are required to be in their assigned grid spot within 5 minutes of the announcer’s final call to grid. At the conclusion of each round, drivers are required to stop at the posting station and will be given a “post it” with their next grid spot written on it. Drivers must go directly from the posting station to their grid spot. Failure to do so may result in forfeiting the next round. Cars in impound will be granted the minimal amount of time needed to have the vehicle released and moved to the grid. Drivers that have been eliminated from the event may return their cars to the paddock area after their second loss.
5.6.17 The driver with the stronger ranking (lower seed) will receive lane choice.
5.6.18 Both drivers of a two-driver car will not be allowed in the same elimination bracket. If two drivers rankings put them in the same bracket, the numerically higher seeded driver will be moved to another bracket by switching them with the next lower driver in the over all rankings. Both drivers will keep their official seed numbers.
5.6.19 During elimination rounds the grid official will release the lower seeded car first. It is that driver’s right to select which side he/ she would like to start from. The higher seeded driver will then take the side not selected.
5.6.20 Drivers are allowed one time out during Elimination Rounds within the time out guidelines with a maximum length of 3 minutes.
5.6.21 All cars not eliminated will be considered under impound rules. Changes to shock settings and tire pressures are allowed, however no other changes are allowed without approval from the grid chief. Approval requires evidence of a mechanical failure or a dB reading that requires a modification per section 9. In the event of a tire failure, only the damaged tire may be changed. Fuel may be added, per SCCA safety guidelines within the grid area.
5.7 STAGING AND START PROCEDURES
5.7.1 DoubleX will use the standard ProSolo start tree and start tree procedure.
5.7.2 Staging Assistance will not be allowed except for open-wheeled cars since they either do not have reverse, or it is exceedingly difficult to engage. Staging assistance may be granted to closed-wheeled cars due to legitimate mechanical problems at the discretion of the Chief Steward. For cars allowed assistance, the following rules apply:
a. Chocking of tires will not be allowed unless approved by the Chief Steward. The assistant must stand on the outside of the stage lane.
b. When the second car of the previous pair crosses the finish line, the assistant must immediately step completely away from the car. Failure to do so or touching the car again will result in a DNF for that run. This is at the judgment of the Starter or DoubleX Officials, and is not protest-able.
5.7.3 DoubleX will use the standard ProSolo shot clock. If you are in the Start Area, it is the driver’s responsibility to be ready to run when the clock expires.
5.7.4 If a situation on course, in timing, etc. interrupts the event flow, the Starter will begin a manual start procedure. When a manual start is used, the starter will ask the driver to give a definite response as to their readiness. Drivers are responsible for acknowledging their readiness in an easily recognizable manner. After the second driver gives a positive response, the tree will be activated in two to five seconds. However, if the second driver delays in giving a positive response, the starter may ask the first driver if they are still ready. This is strictly a courtesy on the part of the starter and is not required
5.7.5 Stock category vehicles are not allowed to add any additional devices (i.e. "flappers") designed to break the lights at the start or finish. Exceptions may be made by the Chief Steward. The intent of this rule is to have every vehicle stage in such a manner that the same component that breaks the stage light beam would also break the red light beam under normal acceleration during competition. The preferred component is the nose of the car.
5.7.7 DoubleX will used the standard ProSolo redlight procedure and rules for qualifying and elimination rounds.
5.8 TIMING AND SCORING
5.8.1 The penalty for a vehicle hitting the timing trip components is a DNF for the driver for that run. This includes both the start and finish trips.
5.8.2 In the event of a timing or start tree malfunction, a rerun will be granted.
5.8.3 A DNF may also be assessed for hitting pylons after the finish line OR for not following the designated course exit path if included in the Event Supplementary Regulations or is posted as a Special Notice on results posting board.
5.8.4 Only upright pylons (pointer pylons/cones exempt) marked completely around the base are subject to penalty as per Section 7.9 of the SCCA National Solo Rules, except that pylons do not need to be marked with a two inch (2) wide marking.
QUALIFYING TIMING AND SCORING PROCEDURES
5.8.1 The penalty for a vehicle hitting a pylon is two (2) seconds during qualifying.
5.8.2 If a driver needs and is granted a rerun by a DoubleX Official, the driver will stay in the proper running order for the remainder of the Heat and will make the rerun at the end of the runs for that Heat. A minimum of five (5) minutes must have elapsed before a competitor may begin a rerun on the course just completed. In any case, driver must get permission from the Chief Steward or grid official prior to making a rerun. Failure to do so may result in forfeiting that run.
5.8.3 If an off-course (OC or DNF) occurs after or at the finish trip lights, the time for that run can still be used to calculate the dial-in time for Challenge competition. If the finish trip light beam is broken while the front two wheels of the car are off course, the run will be scored as a DNF.
5.8.4 Class finishing positions will be determined by totaling the lowest corrected index time from each starting line for each driver.
5.8.5 Each SCCA class will have a unique dial in for each course within these guidelines:
a. Dial ins will be determined by finding the lowest indexed uncorrected (not counting penalties) time for each course for each qualifying class. These base times are then divided by the indices of each of the SCCA classes within the qualifying class to determine the individual class dial ins.
b. In the event of a mixed condition day, dial ins for classes that qualified in wet or other limiting conditions may have their dial ins set by the base times of another qualifying class or by the average of the qualifying classes that ran in more favorable conditions. Dial in decisions will be made by the chief steward.
5.8.6 Final qualifying results will be available in two formats. The first will be sorted by qualifying class for event management purposes and the second by SCCA ProSolo class for contingency purposes. The top driver in each SCCA class, regardless of qualifying class position, will be recognized as that SCCA classs winner and receive all eligible contingency awards.
ELIMINATION AND CHALLENGE ROUND TIMING AND SCORING PROCEDURES
5.8.7 If a driver DNFs on course, it is an automatic win for the other driver. The winning driver can complete the course lap. In the event both drivers DNF, the driver with the lower (stronger) qualifying seed will advance. If both drivers DNF, the Chief Steward may also call for a rerun of the round in the Semifinal and Final rounds.
5.8.8 In the case of a tie after a round, the entire round will be re-run.
5.8.9 If a round is run with incorrect dial-ins, that round will be re- run.
5.8.10 During Elimination and challenge rounds the driver with the least amount of cones is the automatic winner. When there is a tie in the number of cones the driver back to the finish line first is the winner.
5.8.11 If an elimination pair must be re-run, both drivers must report to grid and for a 5 minute pause before returning to the staging area.
5.8.12 During the elimination brackets, drivers with out a loss will compete in the winners bracket, while drivers with a single loss will compete in the losers bracket. Drivers with two losses will be eliminated.
5.8.13 Cone and or off course call will not be announced until the conclusion of each round.
A Pair of Human Judges will determine the winner of each round within
the following guidelines:
a. Judges will point in the direction the winning car is traveling to indicate the winner.
b. If a Judge is unsure of the winner they will signal a draw by holding both arms up. If EITHER Judge calls for a draw, or if the Judges disagree, the round will be re-run.
c. Human Judges are used to keep with the traditional mirrorkana concept, add to the mystic and excitement of the event and to ensure that wins are decisive. As a fail safe within the Human Judge System, The Chief Steward, or a designee, may call for a rerun if it is determined that the round was too close to judge, regardless of the Judges ruling.
5.9 IMPOUND
QUALIFING IMPOUND PROCEDURES
5.9.1 All vehicles in each class will be impounded following the completion of their competition for Sat AM, Sat PM until released by the Chief of Impound, Assistant Chief of Impound, or Chief Steward. DoubleX Officials reserve the right to inspect any or all cars to verify conformance to the rules. Drivers should be prepared to show documents of vehicle specifications and to assist the Compliance Crew in the verification of the vehicles compliance with these specifications. Failure to present the car to Impound may result in disqualification of all runs to that point.
5.9.2 In addition to required series and contingencies stickers, the impound sheets will record the size, brand and model of tires on each car.
ELIMINATION AND CHALLENGE ROUNDS IMPOUND PROCEDURE
5.9.3 At the end of each elimination round the top 6 cars will be held in impound. Additionally, the top two seeded cars to be eliminated will also be held. These 30 that have not been eliminated from competition, plus the two “lucky dog” cars will compete in the Super Challenge. No changes may be made to vehicles in impound unless specifically allowed in the ProSolo rules.
5.10 TIRES
5.10.1 DoubleX will follow the ProSolo rules on tires for Challenge rounds.
6. CHALLENGES
6.1 BONUS CHALLENGE
At the conclusion of the elimination rounds there will be a Bonus Challenge. This will consist of 8 competitors (depending on time) selected by a drawing from the participants not eligible for the Hawk Super or Ladies’ Challenges. Drivers will compete against their own personal dial in times for prizes to be determined.
6.2 HAWK SUPER CHALLENGE PROCEDURE
At the end of the Double Elimination brackets, the top 6 drivers from the 5 brackets plus the top two seeded drivers who have been eliminated will make up the Hawk Super Challenge. In addition, the 3rd and 4th seeded drivers who have been eliminated may elect to remain in impound to fill an available space in the challenge should a driver elect not to compete in the HSC. These cars will be held in impound until the HSC begins, removing a car from impound prior to staging for the HSC without permission from the Chief of Impound, an impound worker or the chief steward will result in disqualification.
6.2.1 Grid position will be determined finishing order within the elimination bracket. The two lucky dog drivers will be the 15th and 16th seeds.
6.2.2 The second (2nd) driver of a two-driver team in a Challenge has a maximum of five (5) minutes from the time the first (1st) driver returns to the grid area to get ready to proceed to staging. A minimum of three (3) minutes must separate the runs of the two (2) drivers.
6.2.3 Because there is no timing involved in the elimination rounds, two drivers cannot face each other in the same car. In the event that co-drivers should meet, they are under the “in house” rule. The in house rule simply states that it is up to them to settle it “in house.” They may elect to borrow a car for one, or both of the drivers, one of the drivers may elect to forfeit or a coin can be tossed.
6.2.4 If, for any reason, a driver cannot compete in the Super Challenge, the slot may be filled, if the driver notifies the Chief Steward, the Chief of Timing, or the Chief of Impound within ten (10) minutes of the Challenge rankings being posted. Any competitor receiving a bye due to a slot not being filled, or a mechanical failure will not be allowed to make practice runs.
6.2.5 When pairings are announced, driver and car will immediately report to the designated Challenge Grid to be assembled in running order by a DoubleX Official.
6.2.6 The starting light will be programmed to start the slower cars first, determined by the best uncorrected indexed qualifying time in each qualifying class, divided by the index for the appropriate SCCA class. This will result in a dial-in for each side for each SCCA class.
6.2.7 If a driver in the Ladies’ Class competition has a corrected combined time faster than the corresponding open class winning driver, then the open class dial-in will be determined using the ladies’ time. If in the judgment of the Chief Steward there were extenuating circumstances, such as changing weather conditions, this provision may be waived.
6.2.8 In case of a timing equipment malfunction, the affected drivers will receive a rerun. In this event both drivers will be red flagged as soon as the problem is realized.
6.2.9 Drivers are allowed one 2-minute time out during Challenge competition within the time out guidelines. If needed, co-drivers will be allowed an additional one (1) minute allowance beyond the two (2) minute time-out rule. No other delays will be allowed. There will be a 2-minute pause between runs in the later rounds as the space between runs begins to shorten.
6.2.10 Challenge competitors must compete in an impounded vehicle that is eligible for their class that is in the same mechanical configuration in which that vehicle completed the class competition. This includes tires, chassis setup, induction, etc., with the following exceptions:
a. Tire pressures may be adjusted.
b. Broken mechanical components may be repaired or replaced. However, repairs must be done in the Impound area under scrutiny of the Impound Crew. Note: This exception does not allow for any component adjustments such as shock absorber settings, anti-roll bar settings, float levels, jetting, re-programming, etc.
c. Fuel may be added.
f. If the Chief Steward declares a "Rain Day," tires may be changed to any eligible tires for the class AND suspension settings may be adjusted, but suspension components may not be removed or replaced.
6.2.11 Co-drivers settling a round “in house” may use cars that have not been impounded.
6.3 LADIES CHALLENGE PROCEDURE
All ladies class drivers will be entered into a double elimination bracket to determine the ladies champion.
6.3.1 Ladies class dial-ins will be determined by the top times in L1 and L2 qualifying only.
6.3.2 All elimination and challenge round procedures listed within these supps apply to the ladies challenge as well.
6.4 HONDA TUNER CHALLENGE
The two Honda drivers who advance furthest through the HSC bracket will face each other in the Honda Tuner Challenge. The HTC will follow the established ProSolo rules.
7. PROTEST
Protests will be conducted according to the current SCCA National Solo Rules, except as amended by these ProSolo National Rules and the Supplementary Rules.
7.1 PROTEST PROCEDURES
7.1.1 Drivers may protest drivers in another class as per these rules.
7.1.2 The protest fee is $100.00. The time limit for submitting a protest against a car is 15 minutes after the conclusion of impound after Saturday afternoon (Sat PM). Protests (fee doubled) may be accepted later if the protestor can clearly demonstrate that evidence pertinent to the protest was not available within the time limit.
7.1.3 The Chief of Impound is the chairman of the Protest Committee. The remainder of the committee will be posted as needed.
7.1.4 If a protest cannot be resolved prior to the running of the Challenge competitions, the car/driver(s) will be allowed to run the challenge under probation. If the car is subsequently found non-compliant, that car/driver(s) results may be voided depending on the penalty assessed and the results of the Challenge will only be adjusted as is possible
7.1.5 If a car is protested, found non-compliant, and the decision is appealed, the car/driver(s) will be allowed to compete in the Challenge under probation if the car is brought into compliance.
7.1.6 If a car is protested, found compliant, and the decision is appealed, the car/driver(s) will be allowed to compete in the Challenge under probation.
7.1.7 Under no circumstances will a protest or appeal be allowed to substantially delay the running of the Challenge competitions.
7.1.8 The Protest Committee will be in charge of accepting protests, making inspections, taking measurements, determining legality, and making a penalty determination.
7.1.9 The National Solo General Manager may assess further penalties.
7.1.10 In addition to the penalties designated in the SCCA National Solo Rules, ProSolo reserves the right to employ, but is not limited to, any of the following penalties:
a. Fines
b. Suspension from future events
